Sculptra®
Gradual Transformation, Lasting Beauty
What Concerns Does Sculptra Address?
You deserve to feel confident in your reflection. As we age, we lose collagen—the essential protein that gives our skin structure, volume, and youthful resilience. This gradual collagen loss leads to hollowing, sagging, and an overall loss of facial fullness that can make you look tired or older than you feel. When these changes affect your confidence, it’s time to take action.
Sculptra is an FDA-approved biostimulator that works entirely differently than traditional fillers. Rather than simply adding volume, Sculptra stimulates your body’s own collagen production process, creating gradual, natural-looking results that develop beautifully over time. At Talessa Aesthetics in Allentown, Dr. Liz and the Talessa team use Sculptra to create subtle, natural-looking transformations for patients throughout the Lehigh Valley.
Whether you’re experiencing overall facial volume loss, temple hollowing, or midface sagging, Sculptra offers a unique solution that addresses the root cause of aging. Your results develop progressively over several months as your body builds new collagen, creating enhancement that looks and feels like your own natural tissue.

How Sculptra Works
Sculptra uses poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a biocompatible, biodegradable synthetic substance that has been used safely in medical applications for decades. When your Talessa provider injects Sculptra beneath the skin, the PLLA microparticles work within the dermis to stimulate your body’s natural collagen production.
Unlike traditional fillers that provide immediate volume, Sculptra works entirely behind the scenes. The PLLA particles create a structure that triggers your body’s wound healing response, encouraging fibroblasts (collagen-producing cells) to generate new collagen. Over the course of several weeks to months, your body gradually builds new collagen in the treated areas.
This process is what makes Sculptra so unique—and so natural-looking. Rather than seeing dramatic overnight changes, you’ll notice progressive improvement that friends and family attribute to you looking rested, healthy, or like you’ve been taking excellent care of yourself. The transformation is subtle enough that people won’t know you’ve had treatment, but noticeable enough that you’ll love what you see in the mirror.
Sculptra requires a series of treatment sessions, typically 2-4 appointments spaced 4-6 weeks apart. This gradual approach allows your Talessa provider to carefully build volume in layers, creating natural-looking, age-appropriate results. The PLLA is eventually absorbed by your body through normal metabolic processes, but the collagen you’ve built remains—providing results that can last up to two years or more.
Treatments take 30-45 minutes at our Allentown office. While Sculptra itself doesn’t contain lidocaine, your Talessa provider can use topical numbing and careful injection techniques to support your comfort throughout the process.

Part of Your Wellness Journey
What to Expect During Your Sculptra Appointment
Before Your Treatment
Dr. Liz will explain the treatment process, including how many sessions you’ll likely need and what timeline to expect for your results to develop. She’ll also take before photos so you can track your gradual, beautiful transformation over the coming months.
Because Sculptra requires multiple sessions, we’ll schedule your entire treatment series upfront, making it easy for you to plan. You’ll never feel rushed or pressured—this consultation is about ensuring you understand the process and feel excited about your journey.
After Your Treatment
Here’s what’s unique about Sculptra aftercare: you’ll need to massage the treated areas yourself for five minutes, five times daily, for five days after each treatment session. This “5-5-5 rule” helps ensure even distribution and optimal collagen stimulation. We’ll provide detailed instructions and demonstrate the proper massage technique.
Initial swelling typically subsides within a few days. Remember, you won’t see immediate volume improvement—that’s not how Sculptra works. Your results will develop gradually over the following weeks and months as your body builds new collagen.
During Your Treatment
On treatment day, arrive with a clean face. Your Talessa provider will begin by cleansing the treatment areas and carefully marking the injection points based on your unique facial anatomy and volume-loss patterns.
Your provider will apply topical numbing cream and may use ice for additional comfort. The Sculptra solution is reconstituted with sterile water, saline, and lidocaine before injection, which helps with comfort and even distribution. Using a fine needle or blunt-tipped cannula, your provider will carefully inject Sculptra into the targeted areas.
You may feel pressure and mild discomfort as the product is placed, but most patients find the treatment tolerable. The entire process typically takes 30-45 minutes depending on how many areas are treated. After injection, your provider will massage the treated areas thoroughly to support even distribution of the product.

Questions? We have answers!
Why don't I see immediate results with Sculptra?
Sculptra works by stimulating your body’s collagen production rather than providing instant volume like traditional fillers. The PLLA microparticles trigger your body to build new collagen gradually over several weeks to months. This creates incredibly natural-looking results that develop progressively. While it requires patience, many patients prefer this gradual approach because the changes are subtle enough that people simply think you look healthy and refreshed
How many Sculptra treatments will I need?
Does Sculptra hurt?
While Sculptra doesn’t contain lidocaine like some fillers, your Talessa provider can use topical numbing cream, and the reconstituted Sculptra solution includes lidocaine. Most patients find treatments tolerable. The sensation is similar to other injectable treatments—pressure and mild discomfort during injection. Treatment typically takes 30-45 minutes.
